  1. I need your email to send you the unit. Also, I am working on a unit for The Mitten and a few more Jan Brett books. Do you have any suggestions or requests for it.

  5. Hi Tammy,
When you do a Jan Brett Unit, what is it exactly that you do? How manu activities do you do and in what subjects and general idea? As a new teacher, we don't do units or themes at our school but I remember them from when I was younger and I loved them. I would like to include some! Thank you

  6. Hi Kristin,
Basically we spend two to three weeks "studying" Jan Brett and her books. I have almost all of her books and they are all over the room. We read one or two each day and discuss the story elements, retell the stories, make similar stories, I usually do something with mittens and hats and integrate math. It usually snows here in January so we integrate snow and some science. And I end it with Town Mouse Country Mouse book and teach about communities. I have some games we make to go with them, and this year I'm thinking about making a Jan Brett lap book. Jan Brett has a great site with TONS of activities and ideas. The kids really like Jan Brett and like her books. I also do a Cynthia Rylant unit. If you'd like to send me your email I'd be glad to send you some of my stuff...If I can figure out how to...I'm not really techy literate. lol Hope this helps.
