ADD or A If You Give a Pig a Pancake Kind of Day? SOLS #4 2012

I was going to slice early today so I could work in my classroom. Really I was
I woke early, took a shower, fixed my hair, ready to gothen I noticed we’re almost out of toothpaste. I knew if we were almost out of toothpaste then the soap wasn’t far behind.
I pulled on my hoodie and headed for Wal-Mart. While I was at Wal-Mart I noticed they had videos on sale for five dollars. Movies like Annie and Classic Fairy Tales. The movies made me think of my classroom.
Thinking about my classroom reminded me I needed to go work in it.
Before I could go to my classroom I needed to put away the groceries. While I was putting the groceries away I remembered I’d bought some hamburger patties to grill for supper.
I thought potato salad sounded good too, so I put some potatoes on to boil.
As the potatoes were cooking I decided to gather the laundry and wash it.
While I was gathering the laundry I noticed my bathroom was in disarray, so I decided to give it a good scrub.
I took the bath mats out to be aired. When I hung them over the fence I saw what a pretty day it was.
I went inside to grab my sunglasses. When I grabbed my glasses I spied the new box of tea bags I’d just bought. I went to the sink to put on a jug of tea.
The tea was brewing. I started to take the potatoes off the stove, but I needed a pot holder. I had seen one in my sewing room so I went to get it.
When I was in the sewing room I noticed it needed a little organization- so I began to sort and store.
Looking at the things in my sewing room reminded me I still needed to go to my classroom.
I went to get my keys. As I reached for my keys I glanced at the tea pitcher and decided to make a glass of tea to go.
The tea reminded me what a pretty day it was outside.
I gathered my tea and sunglasses and headed for a sunny spot in the backyard.
I laid back and began to soak up the sun and warmth. While I was basking in the warmth I remembered my slice. I hopped up and ran in to grab my pen and paper.
And chances are when I start to slice... I will remember  I still need to go to my classroom

  1. This post is so true and too funny! I am glad I am not the only one with a brain that is hopping in 100 different directions! I hope you eventually get to your classroom. =)

  2. Hi Tammy, I'm late, late reading today-so many things to do (& I move around getting off task just like you). This is just wonderful, just exactly how the time goes when I seem to have a lot of it. I'm still supposed to be making some biscuits today. Maybe soon? Thank you! I'm going to print this out to remind me that students do this too!

  3. What a joy to read this! It made me think about the old "Family Circus" cartoon when the artist would draw dotted lines to show where the kids had traveled on their way from point A to point B with 20 stops in-between...thanks for the smiles!

  4. I love this slice of life. I also love those books. My students would say " that was a circle story."

  5. This is hilarious and so true. The only thing missing is that by the time you get to my age everytime you go into a room you not only get sidetracked but you forget why you came in to the room in the first place!

  6. Ha! Loved this slice! Isn't it the truth? Hope you made it to your classroom -- or maybe not? After all the business, a nap may be needed!

  7. I'm passing along something lovely to you! I know that you have already received it once, but you have been so kind and inspiring to me that I felt that you deserved it again. Don't worry about passing it along again, though!

  8. Too funny! This made my day.
