SOLS 9/31 2012 I Don't Want To Write Today

I don’t want to write today.
I don’t want to write about my husband’s trials with his dying estranged  father.
I don’t want to write about the three inches I have to take in my daughter’s prom dress, or the boots she wants to buy to go with it.
I don’t want to write about my kiddos eating lunch with me in my classroom today, or the excitement they showed when Hadley arrived with their McDonalds Happy Meals.
I don’t want to write about the time changing, the pretty weather, my headache, or the laundry on the floor.
I don’t want to write about my failed weekend plans, or wanting a new pair shoes.
I don’t want to write about the frustration, disenchantment, disappointment, and hurt my husband feels once again from his father- even in his last days.
I don’t want to write about the hopelessness you feel when a loved one is hurt.
I don’t want to write about my son’s graduation, new job, and how proud I am of his hard work and success.
I don’t want to write about my daughter’s 18th birthday, upcoming graduation, pending parties, and my immense pride in her.
I don’t want to write about spring break, crazy weather, students, children, family or shoes.
I don’t want to write today.

  1. Well done in the face of adversity. We certainly all have had those moments when all becomes just too much. Have a good weekend and tell us how you tried to relax!!

  2. And yet you did absolutely every single thing you said you didn't want to do - I LOVE this format! I think this could be a fun format for my 2nd graders to try, too. :)

  4. Because you didn't want to write, you gave us a glimpse into a life worth living, although challenges are there, some of them seem sweet & some will pass on eventually. Thanks Tammy for a thoughtful piece that you didn't write!
